Proctoring Terms & Conditions

By using the ProctrMe platform for your examination, you agree to comply with the following proctoring terms and conditions. These terms ensure the fairness and validity of the assessment process.

1. Consent to Monitoring

You consent to the continuous monitoring of your device activities during the active exam session. This includes tracking tab switches, window resizing, keyboard events, and browser focus state.

2. Device Requirements

You are responsible for ensuring that your device and internet connection meet the minimum requirements for the exam. ProctrMe is not responsible for technical failures caused by unsupported hardware or unstable networks.

3. Security Violations

The system will automatically flag and may block access if any of the following are detected:

4. Data Privacy

ProctrMe collects only the metadata required to validate the integrity of the exam. This includes violation logs, session timestamps, and registration details. All data is handled in accordance with institutional data protection standards.

5. Result Invalidation

If severe security violations are logged, the examining institution has the sole authority to invalidate your examination attempt. ProctrMe provides the evidence, but the final decision rests with your institution.

6. Scope of These Terms

These terms govern your use of the ProctrMe platform as a candidate sitting an examination. They sit alongside, and do not replace, the academic regulations of the institution administering your exam. Where the two differ, your institution's rules take precedence on matters of academic conduct, permitted materials, accommodations, and appeals. ProctrMe is the technical provider of the examination environment; your institution is the examining authority.

Institutions using the platform to create and administer examinations are additionally bound by a separate service agreement covering data controllership, retention, and permitted use. Nothing in these candidate-facing terms alters that agreement.

7. Acceptable Use

When using the platform you agree not to:

Breach of this section may result in suspension of platform access in addition to any academic consequence imposed by your institution.

8. Accessibility and Accommodations

Requests for extra time, rest breaks, assistive technology compatibility, or exemption from camera monitoring must be arranged with your institution before the examination begins. The platform cannot infer an accommodation from your behaviour during a session, and monitoring signals do not account for accommodations that have not been configured. If you have an approved accommodation and are unsure whether it has been applied to a scheduled exam, raise it with your institution well in advance of the sitting rather than at the start of the session.

9. Limitations of the Service

We are explicit about what this platform does not do. It does not make determinations of academic misconduct; it records events for human review. It does not guarantee the detection of every form of cheating, and no browser-based system can — the use of a separate device outside the camera's field of view is a known and unclosable limitation. It does not verify identity to a legal or biometric standard; the pre-exam check confirms presence and deters casual substitution.

The service is provided on an "as available" basis. While we work to maintain availability during scheduled examination windows, we do not warrant uninterrupted operation, and we recommend that institutions running high-stakes assessments have a documented contingency procedure.

10. Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, ProctrMe's liability arising from use of the platform is limited to the fees paid for the service in the period concerned. We are not liable for academic outcomes, decisions made by an examining institution, or losses arising from a candidate's device, network, or environment. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the platform develops or as legal requirements change. Material changes will be reflected in the revision date below, and institutions will be notified through their administrative contact. Continued use of the platform after a revision constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you disagree with a change, your recourse is to stop using the platform; your institution should be informed so an alternative assessment arrangement can be made.

12. Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Questions about these terms, or about how they interact with your institution's regulations, can be sent to contact@proctrme.tech. For questions specifically about personal data, see our privacy policy, which sets out what is collected, why, and how long it is kept.
